Asian American Arts Across Generations:
Migration and the Politics of Identity

Thursday, November 18, 2004

Join us for an evening with artists and performers le thi diem thuy, DJ
Maneesh the Twister, Sue Li-Jue, and Kristina Wong as they explore questions
of migration and Asian American identity through art. Spoken word, musical,
and theatrical performances will be followed by a conversation with the
artists about their work and the ways in which Asian American art is
evolving with each generation. After the program, the Oakland Museum of
California will be open exclusively for Asia Society guests to view the
exhibition, What's Going On? - California and the Vietnam Era.

le thi diem thuy, author of The Gangster We Are All Looking For, is a writer
and solo performance artist. Maneesh the Twister is co-founder, producer,
and DJ for Dhamaal, San Francisco's critically acclaimed artist collective.
Sue Li-Jue is Artistic Director, Dancer, and Choreographer for Facing East
Dance and Music. Kristina Wong, an LA-based solo performer, writer, actor,
educator, activist, and filmmaker, is known for her quirky, culture-jamming,
subversive style. Gary Chou (moderator) is the editor of manja.org.
